Vulnerable Marine Ecosystems

The Vulnerable Marine Ecosystem (VME) Webservice provides the ability to display VME data contained within the ICES VME Data Portal database on your Geographical Information System (GIS) using Web Map Service (WMS) and Web Feature Service (WFS) standard protocols. Each part of the web service is provided by a web service Application Programme Interface (API), which defines the name, input to, and output from the service for a particular data request. ICES also provide a Web Services Description Language (WSDL) document that fully describes the ICES Data Portal Web Service. This document can be used to create clients that access the service.

The following web service APIs are provided:


	Name	GetPublicRecordsVMEDataSet

	Description	This API of the webservice returns the VME data in the agreed WGDEC format: http://www.ices.dk/sites/pub/Publication%20Reports/Expert%20Group%20Report/acom/2016/WGDEC/wgdec_2016.pdf (page 44) .

	Input	The available filters are: • Year • HabitatType • VMEIndicator • Species • AphiaID • YearInsertion

	Output	Returns only the open access data that matches the defined criterea.

	Name	Weighting VME Algorithm

	Description	Multi-criteria assessment (MCA) is a method of aggregating data based on different criteria or attributes that contain information relevant to the decision and weighting these to provide a single metric that captures all this information. A preview of the layer is available here


	Output	The Weighting VME Algorithm layer in a c-square of 0.05 degrees.

	Name	Token

	Description	This API returns a JWT token to the user if the ICES credentials are correct.

	Input	UserName and Password Note: To call this API the user needs to be autenticathed with a

	Output	JWT Token.

	Name	GetAllRecordsVMEDataSet

	Description	This API of the webservice returns the VME data in the agreed WGDEC format: http://www.ices.dk/sites/pub/Publication%20Reports/Expert%20Group%20Report/acom/2016/WGDEC/wgdec_2016.pdf (page 44) .

	Input	The available filters are: • Year • HabitatType • VMEIndicator • Species • AphiaID • YearInsertion Note: To call this API the user needs to be autenticathed with a JWT token and need to be authorized to access the restricted records

	Output	Returns the data that matches the defined criterea.
